    Brief Description:

    The primary objective of this position is to establish and maintain a comprehensive project risk management framework, processes, and policies within the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Group.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement a standardized project risk management framework, methodology, and templates to ensure consistency in managing project risks across the SARB Group.
    • Establish project risk quality criteria and conduct quality reviews on project risk assessments for projects outside of the executive portfolio.
    • Provide expert input into the enterprise-wide project management framework and project management systems, ensuring alignment with project risk management principles.
    • Conduct regular comprehensive risk assessments for cross-cutting portfolio risks, ensuring effective execution of risk response plans.
    • Facilitate risk assessments for strategic initiatives and tier 1 projects in the executive portfolio, ensuring timely execution of risk response plans.
    • Maintain oversight of risk response plan implementation by risk owners, ensuring timely action.
    • Analyze the internal and external environment of the SARB to inform risk identification and opportunity recognition, supporting informed decision-making.
    • Present portfolio, program, and project risks to relevant governance forums and committees, ensuring transparency and accountability (applicable to both hub and spoke models).
    • Deliver onboarding training for the project management community on related risk frameworks, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
    • Design and execute risk awareness campaigns to educate stakeholders, influence behavior, and emphasize the importance of effective risk management practices within the project management community.
    • Identify and coordinate project risk management training needs across the SARB Group, delivering targeted training programs.
    • Analyze project risk register data to identify trends, create qualitative risk reports, and derive actionable business intelligence for informed decision-making.
    • Communicate risk management strategies and policies to ensure widespread understanding and adherence across the SARB Group.
    • Collaborate closely with project management stakeholders to provide support and information for project-related forums, meetings, and steering committees.
    • Maintain, consolidate, and report on project risk issues for the SARB Group, ensuring accurate tracking and resolution.
    • Research and benchmark leading risk management processes and developments, proposing improvements to enhance the SARB's risk management capabilities.
