_Fossil Free SA is a campaign working for an end to the fossil fuel industry in South Africa, particularly through fossil fuel divestment and challenging greenwashing in all its forms.

Our core campaigns are for divestment by individuals and institutions, an end to greenwashing by the creative industries, and for bans on fossil fuel advertising.

Based in Cape Town, Fossil Free SA seeks to appoint a


OPERATIONS MANAGER


The Operations Manager will support the director-coordinator, lead FFSA's good administration, ensuring continued organisational development and proper support for the team.

They will work with the director and campaigns coordinator as a guardian of FFSA's overall stability, efficiency and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities for the
Operations Manager will include:


  • Providing support for organisational development, including sound governance, a happy culture and smooth internal communications.
  • Overseeing the finance team.
  • Ensuring that the team and people policies are effective, humane, up to date and consistently implemented.
  • Ensuring all team members have full HR support and guidance, including checkins and appraisals.
  • Tracking ongoing commitments and funder expectations.
  • Leading the administrative side of fundraising and reporting.
  • Supporting the management committee and governance of the voluntary association.
  • Ensuring that the organization is in all respects compliant with relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Strengthen the community of supporters through overseeing regular communications and organising inperson events.

The
Operations Manager must have the following:


  • A passion for human rights, be extremely well-organised, be obsessive about detail.
  • Love supporting people, be a master of cloudbased and Internet work streams and be happy to work remotely with regular virtual and inperson checkins.
  • Own computer, reliable internet access and ability to travel to occasional local appointments
