Job Description:


  • The operational risk management (ORM) business process is a key business process supporting the achievement of operational objectives at Anglo American Platinum (AAP) operations. The Operational Risk function within AAP supports the organisations capability to manage risk and utilise opportunities in pursuit of operational objectives.
You will take on a range of different tasks within the SHE Department which will include (but not be limited to) the followin

g:

  • Plan, implement and coordinate the implementation of ORM with specific focus on Baseline and Issue based risk management activities
  • Coordinate the ORM implementation and execution against the integrated risk management framework operational risk management processes, systems, standards and procedures
  • Implement the functioning of operational risk management IT Platform
  • Coordinate planning and implementation of the annual Operational Risk Programme and support the managerial oversight of the delivery of operational risk targets and key results areas
  • Assess operational risk performance and provide status evaluation reports to operations management and operational risk role holders and support action planning where required
  • Support formal operational risk capacity building programs at operations.
  • Provide risk based operational input to ensure operation to ensure management of material risks and integration of operational risk management into leading operational practices and programs such as the Operating Model, incident investigation and assurance practices

This role is in the SHE Department at a Band 6 Level reporting to the Operational Risk Management Superintendent

Qualifications:


  • National Diploma in Risk, Safety Management, Sciences, Engineering, Mining or related discipline
  • Courses in Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001), Risk qualification, Audit qualification (advantageous)

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:


  • Minimum of 5 years relevant operational mining, processing, or engineering related experience
  • Detailed understanding of the Platinum value chain and operational trends and risks
  • Supervisory experience will be advantageous
  • An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining and mineral processing operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management within a technical environment
  • Knowledge and experience with risk assessment techniques such as WRAC, Bowtie Analysis, HAZOP and other industry recognised techniques and tools

Additional Requirements

  • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and coordinating disciplines relevant to risk management.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use operational risk management system for information management and data analysis (e

g:
Azure, Bowtie XP, Isometrix, CURA, IHS, etc.)

  • Translate recommendations into tangible operational outcomes
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Ability to speak additional languages is desirable.
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle
  • Regional and domestic travel may be required
  • Working on operational mine and process sites (both open pit and underground) will be required. This may involve activities of a physical nature in a typical operating environment (for example noise, vibration, heat, small spaces, reduced visibility).
  • Thus, must be medically fit
  • Must be computer literate (MS Office suite etc.)
