Information Technology (IT) Intern Requirements and Qualifications

  • Postmatric qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (alternatively currently registered and completing an equivalent or higher qualification, degree/Diploma, A+, N+ or Final year IT/Information Management Student)
  • Knowledge & understanding of computer systems and software (both Windows and Apple IOS/MacOS are essential, Linux would be an advantage)
  • Computer literate and proficient in productivity tools; MS Office/Google Docs
  • Basic System administration tasks
  • Basic understanding of electrical and or network cabling with fibre will be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of network and system security
  • Familiarity with hardware and software installation on workstation and servers will be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, taking pride in one's work
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology
  • Works well under pressure or faced with conflicting priorities
  • Good understanding of the OSI module would be an advantage
  • Though not a focus, experience with and understanding of SQL, website design, support of development/coding will be an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities:

Information Technology (IT) Intern


Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical assistance to staff, and learners, on hardware and softwarerelated issues
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot any issues
  • Follow established procedures and processes for computer maintenance
  • Provide training and support to team members on the use of computer systems and software
  • Perform system backups and maintain accurate records
  • Research and recommend solutions for technical problems
  • Register and followup on insurance claims for damaged/faulty iPad Devices.
  • Assist the ICT Department, with supporting the Asset Management System, and the procurement process from device purchase, to allocation and disposal, maintaining accurate records, assist with administration and audit/verification process and related tasks
  • Perform and offer support to Data Capture, general administrative and related office tasks
  • May be required to undertake other holistic school roles and functions such as being involved in the Tutor Program, Sports or extra mural program, be part of and support the Audio Visual Team and functions related to events and other activities
