Eastern Cape - Eastern Cape: Our client is looking for a Head of Butchery and Operations to join the team.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5year proven butchery blockman experience
  • Extensive experience as a Head or Manager of a reputable butchery or meat processing facility is essential.
  • Certified Butchery Qualification
  • Proven track record in sourcing and negotiating with farmers, suppliers, and abattoirs.
  • Strong understanding of the meat industry, including cuts of meat, quality assessment, and food safety regulations.
  • Proficient in supply chain management, planning, and forecasting.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to handle complex operations efficiently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining highquality standards.
  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and motivate a team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Setting up initial supply chain at the company to source premium beef, lamb, chicken, and pork from reputable farmers and producers, leveraging a strong network and experience in the industry.
  • Negotiate favourable pricing and terms with suppliers, ensuring costeffective procurement without compromising on quality.
  • Coordinate with abattoirs and provide clear instructions on specific cuts of meats based on customer orders, while adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Develop and execute strategic planning and forecasting for the supply chain, ensuring consistent availability of products to meet customer demands.
  • Manage the packaging process of meat boxes, ensuring accurate and efficient packing while maintaining brand standards.
  • Collaborate with delivery companies to ensure timely handover of packaged meat boxes and monitor delivery performance.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures throughout all stages of the process to guarantee a consistent 100% quality standard and including full traceability of meat from farm.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the butchery team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
