Description

At Tower Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Technician to join our team in Durban. As an integral part of our operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our electrical installations and equipment.

**Job Summary:**

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, distribution boards, and power supplies. You will also be required to verify electrical installations, issue certificates of compliance, and respond to maintenance work requests from various divisions.

**Key Responsibilities:**

Comply with regulatory requirements, SOPs, and legislation related to SHEQ and electrical installations.
Assist with electrical projects, including the installation of air-conditioning, refrigeration, and other equipment power supplies.
Install and maintain electrical wiring in buildings according to regulations and industry standards.
Verify all electrical installations and issue certificates of compliance or accept them from contractors.
Travel to Zone Sites and/or branches to perform electrical maintenance and repairs.
Check power supply, earth faults, and other reasons why equipment is not working.
Repair or replace necessary parts and reassemble equipment.
Test repaired equipment and ensure it meets safety and quality standards.
Maintain protective stop switches and control circuits.
Perform routine checks on electrical installations and equipment using the SAP plant Maintenance Schedule.
Respond to maintenance work requests (job cards) from divisions and prioritize tasks accordingly.
Change MCBs in distribution boards, re-route circuits, and repair electrical faults.
Replace ballast, globes, and fluorescent fittings when required.
Maintain lighting and back-up power systems to ensure optimal performance.
Ensure tools and equipment are signed in and out of stock and manage their lifespan through ongoing routine maintenance.
Order equipment and materials from suppliers according to job cards or workshop requisitions, authorized by the electrical supervisor.
Perform other reasonable duties as required by your superior.
