There is a position available in Fourways for an experienced General Manager of Logistics.


The General Manager of Logistics is a senior-level management position responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the logistics and supply chain operations as well as Procurement within the organization.

This role involves strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement of processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods and materials throughout the supply chain.


Expected duties:

Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement the overall logistics strategy aligned with the company's business goals. Collaborate with other departments to understand and support their logístical needs.


Supply Chain Management:
Manage end-to-end supply chain processes, Road Freight and Sea Freight Management, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.


Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate a cross-functional logistics team, providing direction and fostering a culture of excellence.

Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and facilitate professional development


Cost Management:
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize logistics expenses. Negotiate contracts with suppliers, carriers, and other partners.


Technology Integration:
Evaluate and implement logistics technology solutions to enhance efficiency and visibility within the supply chain. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.


Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations governing logistics operations. Mitigate risks by implementing robust security and contingency plans.


Performance Metrics:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly assess and report on the performance of logistics operations. Implement corrective actions as needed to achieve optimal results.


Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address any issues affecting logistics performance.


Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance the overall efficiency of logistics operations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the logistics team.


Minimum requirements for this position are as follows: a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Advanced degree is a plus. Ten years of proven experience in logistics management, with a track record of successful leadership. Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, regulations, and industry best practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management software. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.


The Head of Logistics plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless and efficient flow of products through the supply chain, contributing to the overall success and competitiveness of the organization.


Salary on offer:
R to R CTC.


Salary:
R150, R160,000.00 per month


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Fourways, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • Bachelors (preferred)

Experience:

Logistics Management: 10 years (preferred)
