    What You'll Bring:

  • A highly competent level of drafting.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong numeracy with a proven ability to work with complexity around numbers.
  • Knowledge of English law and the creation and management of contracts under English law.
  • Good negotiation skills. This will be supported by (but will also need to enforce) TransUnion's standard position on all legal issues.
  • Ability to absorb and understand often complex processes and methodologies.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the content of and reasons behind the applicable policies and procedures of TransUnion (including those maintained by UK Legal team) will be needed in due course.
  • Good understanding of UK Data Protection Laws.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly.

  • Ability to forge good working relationships and communicate well with employees at all levels in the business and with external contacts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to apply it when giving legal advice.
  • Having advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Pro DC including being able to produce correspondence, reports and complicated documents in a timely manner.

  • Impact You'll Make:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising internal clients on low to mid value commercial contracts.
  • Assisting with (and leading where appropriate) the drafting, negotiating and advising on higher value commercial contracts.
  • Utilisation of TransUnion's internal precedents, but also working from other documentation where required.
  • Working with Senior Counsel and internal stakeholders to create and maintain a contracting playbooks/sets of rules (for example, Finance & Information Security).
  • Undertaking a variety of post-signature activities in relation to contracts including responding to contract queries and undertaking contract reviews.
  • Supporting Senior Counsel on responding to tenders and collating standard responses.
  • Supporting the generation (by non-legal SMEs) of contractual documentation (e.g., with respect to software delivery contracts).
  • Assisting Legal Operations team in managing processes, policies, systems and inbox/ triage of matters.
  • Creation and maintenance of horizon scanning updates covering both legal and regulatory changes, for the UK legal, risk and compliance team (and other internal stakeholders.
  • Creation and negotiation of contracts of various types as described above.
  • Management of own caseload via case management system.
  • Management of own projects via project methodology.
  • Maintenance of templates and precedents.
  • Managing escalations to UK Legal Management and SMEs as appropriate.
  • Liaising with the UK Sales and Finance teams where appropriate.
  • Assisting on ad hoc queries.
  • Working with the wider UK Legal Product and Regulatory Team where appropriate.
  • Virtual attendance at UK Legal team meetings.
  • Creating and maintaining a knowledge management system in tandem with other team members.
  • Creating and updating legal documentation (including contracts and playbooks) in tandem with other team members.
  • It is a requirement of the Global Capability Centre Africa that you reside in a home that is fibre ready; and has space for you to be able to work comfortably and confidentially on a day-to-day basis for the purpose of your proposed employment. You can be based anywhere in South Africa and will not be able to work in a location outside of South Africa.

    A Minimum of a 100 Meg Fibre line is required, should you be successful, you will need to upgrade your line in order to work effectively

    This is a remote position which may require occasional in-person attendance at work-related events at the discretion of management.
