GENERAL MANAGER
**LICHTENBURG

Epko Oil Seed Crushing (Pty) Ltd is a progressive company involved in the procurement and processing of oilseeds,

the sales of vegetable oil and related products. The plant, with a capacity of processing 220k/MT sunflower seeds
**and processes which equates to 25% of the total sunflower seed harvest in South Africa, is situated in Lichtenburg.


Overall purpose:

Main accountabilities _(Main responsibilities)_
:
Directing the operation of the plant facility, establishing performance objectives for operation, budgets and schedules, ensuring all
required safety and environmental regulations are complied with while producing the quantity and quality of the product desired.

Developing and monitoring production schedules to ensure that completed products are shipped on time and in accordance with
customer expectations.

Proposes a continuous improvement plan and production procedures to ensure that production objectives are met in a safe and efficient
manner.

Ensuring preventive and predictive maintenance programs are continuously applied and proposing an annual maintenance plan,
including ordinary and extraordinary interventions, including CAPEX when necessary.

Controlling the impact of operations on the environment by monitoring quality of plant effluents and emissions, coordinating efforts with
function managers to ensure plant-wide compliance.

Ensuring effective communication throughout the facility; promoting teamwork and implementing beneficial training methods.

Reviewing and final approval of recommendations of subordinates in matters of staff or rate changes, participating in the formulation of
company policies that affect plant employees.

Leading efforts in the determination of proper staffing for departments and participating in recruitment efforts, talent development,
personnel development plans and the performance appraisal process, providing input as needed and approving all evaluations.

Participating in long range planning decisions, recommending capital improvements and performing relevant budget and P/L
responsibilities.

Supporting and administering approved company policies, clearly communicating new policies and objectives to all plant employees.


The ability to investigate and implement cost effective alternatives to expand or diversify plant operations in the edible oils value chain.


Knowledge and experience:

Ten (10) or more years of industrial management experience, involving the management of people and processes;

Knowledge and experience in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and commodities industrial projects will be highly
recommended,

Experience in commodities procurement and contract negotiations will be essential; and

Six (6) or more years of experience leading and managing a processing plant (a working knowledge/experience in managing a major
hazardous installation would be advantageous).


Preferred qualifications:

An Engineering degree (BSc, BTech Engineering,) will serve as a minimum requirement with Factory Government Certification
Competence (GCC); and

A postgraduate management qualification (MBA or Advance Management Program)
