SENIOR HOT METAL CRANE CONTROLLER

SA STEELWORKS - AIRPORT INDUSTRIA - CAPE TOWN
***
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Manage the operation of a variety of material
moving equipment daily
Responsible for the inspection of machines and equipment on a daily basis
Performing routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required and initiate additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary.
Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site.
Collaborate together with the Line manager and supervisors to optimize usage of the overhead crane
Create and update detailed log of material transportation operations
Provide additional support to other crane operators as necessary
Operate overhead crane to transport metallurgical vessels filled with liquid steel.
Manage all crane activity in the Meltshop at all times
Must enforce and practice housekeeping policies
Effectively monitor production process to achieve set daily targets and to minimize down time.
Ability to analyze potential failures and communicate accordingly with possible solutions in a timeous manner
Abiding by the regulations as set out in Occupational Health and Safety Act and

Company policies

Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) as per tasks assigned

Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

Matric (Maths Compulsory)
Minimum of 4 years working experience with a valid overhead crane license and in a similar environment.
Excellent manual dexterity, flexibility and physical strength.
Excellent depth perception, handeye coordination and a fast reaction time
Intermediate knowledge of lifting, hooking principles and practice
Ability to detect machine discrepancies
Experience working in the steel industry advantageous
Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment
Must be able to work
SHIFTS overtime
Good communication skills
Excellent time management
Computer Literate
