- Storage and Maintenance of Tools
- Ensure power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment are kept in good working condition and stored safely.
- Report broken tools/equipment to the Maintenance Manager and, where possible, repair broken maintenance tools.
- Determine the types of tools, equipment, and materials required.
- Request supervisor inspection after work completion.
- Avoid downtime or hazards/safety issues by performing necessary duties.
- General Repairs and Maintenance
- Replace faulty light bulbs and tubes.
- Repair and/or replace electrical equipment (qualified personnel only).
- Address safety hazards.
- Assemble and repair furniture and equipment.
- Install appliances and machinery.
- Perform plumbing and carpentry tasks.
- Liaise with contractors and other workers.
- Attending to Various Issues
- Address broken and collapsing ceilings.
- Fix roof leaks.
- Paint buildings, structures, equipment, and ceilings.
- Waterproof roofs and insulated ceilings.
- Replace broken windowpanes, doors, hinges, and locks.
- Perform paving, fence, and gate repairs.
- Carry out basic bricklaying and plastering.
- Repair leaking gutters and downpipes.
- Install wall and floor tiles as necessary.
- Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHEQ)
- Maintain a secure and safe working environment.
- Comply with health and safety procedures.
- Apply TIMS documentation consistently.
- Effective Teamwork and Self-Management
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks.
- Plan, prioritize, and self-develop.
- Maintain quality and productivity standards.
- Communicate potential risks and resolutions.
- Support colleagues and meet team targets.
- Grade 12 qualification.
- N3 or equivalent (trades-related) certification (40% Electrical, 60% Mechanical).
- Valid driver's license (Code EC advantageous).
- 2-4 years of experience in electrical and mechanical work.
- Clear criminal record.
- Ability to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Willingness to travel to cross-docks in George, East London, and Mthatha.
