The Registered Nurse will be responsible for managing individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patient' health through the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients and supervising assigned team members, while adhering to compliance standards.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Collect patient health history accurately
  • Observe and record patient behavior and conditions
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients (including ECG's, wound care, administering medication, vitals, doctors round etc.)
  • Read and interpret patient information being able to make treatment decisions within the scope of practice.
  • The ability to think on your feet.
  • Shift leader assist, direct and supervise nurses and care givers
  • Provide inservice training of nursing staff
  • Ensure quality patient care and safety delivered throughout the nursing team
  • Have and maintain good relationship with allied healthcare and ensure clear communication between disciplines are maintained.
  • Be able to assist the Nursing Manager in duties when the Nursing Manager is not available.

  • Able to delegate but also follow instructions well

  • Ensuring all confidentiality and privacy of patients are maintained
  • Ensure that everyone within sphere of care is treated with dignity and humanity, understanding individual needs, showing compassion and sensitivity, and provide care in a way that respects all people equally
Minimum qualifications and experience required

  • Current registration with SANC as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Current BLS certification
