Zethembiso Dladla

I, Zethembiso Dladla, an enthusiastic recent graduate of the University of KwaZulu Natal, am looking for a position as a lab assistant or chemist assistant that will allow me to put my practical skills to use in the real world. I have a bachelor's degree in applied chemistry from my program. In addition, I have done a lot of lab work since my first year and successfully finished an anionic clays project in my final year that involved synthesizing hydrotalcites. I have acquired a lot of skills, namely, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, chemical analysis, industrial chemistry, physical chemistry, instrumental analysis, organization and time management, accurate and attention to detail, I also have good communication skills. I am computer literate, meaning I understand basic office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). I am always eager to learn new things about my occupation.

I am just a newly graduated applied chemist, and have not yet worked for a company, but hopefully will soon, thus I only have educational experience, but I have done teaching practice where I was teaching grade 10 and 11 learners Physical Sciences and Mathematics in Phembisizwe Hig School.

I graduated on the 12th of May as an applied chemist in the University of KwaZulu Natal, from this program I gained so much experience about working with chemicals, and instruments in the UKZN labs as a student there. I have worked in a lab for 3 years, working closely with experienced chemists and lab technicians, I am also familiar with several methods of sample analysis including liquid chromatography and gas chromatography. Following safety and security procedures when handling hazardous chemicals had been the most important aspect when you are in the lab, and also cleaning and sanitizing the lab equipment. Right now, I am at the end of a teaching course, so I am a prospective chemistry & physics and mathematics teacher in University of KwaZulu Natal, Edgewood Campus. The Weighted average percentage for the Applied Chemistry qualification is 67%.
