About William Mupotaringa:

I'm an enthusiastic operational leader with broad cross-functional experience leading 
brand growth and evolution. I've worked with franchise partners across multiple 
geographies whilst involved in many influential functions that drive organisational 
growth and profits. 
I've spent over ten valuable years in Operations working closely with Human 
Resources, Training Departments, Business Development, Supply Chain and 
Marketing Departments, creating and leading high-performing diverse teams to 
deliver strategic programs in local and regional markets. I've led my teams to deliver 
strong results, providing success and sustainable business value.  
I seek to understand the core business needs and retain a deep understanding of 
restaurant operations in a field capacity and at a strategic level above the restaurant 
level. I'm passionate about my own personal growth and leadership development as 
well as those around me, either as direct reports or in a mentor capacity.

 

Experience

A summary of some of the responsibilities I have executed include:

  • Ensuring all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way through successful planning and supervision of daily activities to consistently attain operational and profit objectives.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee its movement and storage efficiency
  • Help the organization’s processes remain legally compliant
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives
  • Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability by controlling operational costs and identifying measures to cut waste
  • Manage budgets, forecasts and create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses.
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs
  • Find ways to increase the quality of customer service through constant maintenance of rigorous standards of food and beverage quality and presentation in a fast-paced environment
  •  Enable sales, support, and service teams to deliver world-class, differentiated customer service and merchant support through effective service operations planning, new process design, and existing process optimization
  • Conduct reviews and audits of existing standard operating procedures and lead optimization events such as CHAMPS to improve and evolve service and support workflows
  • Use company-approved selective hiring criteria to maintain quality hiring and development of a team of world-class managers through a solid track record of recruiting, training and leading a diverse team to achieve the highest level of customer service 
  • Ensure restaurant managers are hiring and retaining team members to help improve productivity, quality of the guest experience and responding efficiently and accurately to restaurant customer complaints.
  • Train management/direct reports and hourly team members on proper product preparation, guest service techniques, daily equipment maintenance procedures, brand identity and operational standards
  • Define customer-obsessed and partner-aligned priorities for my team of managers
  • Provide structure, consistency, and operational excellence by leading long-term, structured programs through my team, such as the AOP.

Skills

  • Proven work experience as an operations manager with a history of building sales and profits through people retention and excellent guest experience
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles

  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Proven work experience as a Senior Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager and Area Operations Manager 
  •  Familiarity with restaurant management software, like GAAP, PILOT, and MICROS Software.
  • Acute financial management skills with proficiency in producing and presenting accurate and complete business reports.
  • MBA Degree in Business, Operations Management General (These are the modules I covered in the MBA Degree- Organizational Behavior, Managing Strategic Change, Strategic Marketing, Managing Through Finance, Consultancy Management, Project Management, Research Methods, Final Dissertation/ Research on Corporate Culture and its Effect on Corporate Performance.  More than anything, the MBA course developed me into a holistic leader capable of steering an organization and its people to success.
