My past 16 years with Cape Union Mart Group have given me a unique insight into the current retail environment in SA. I believe I have all the necessary experience, skills and foresight to excel at your company based on the job spec provided. I have been exposed to ‘best practice’ for the last few years and believe I can bring this expertise into any merchandise planning environment. When I joined Cape Union Mart, there were only 60 stores and today there are over 300. My corporate knowledge results from the many opportunities afforded to me while working across many departments with various people within the business. I feel that I still have lots to offer from my experience in (mostly) the merchandise planning field and supply chain fields in general. With Cape Union Mart I was afforded many opportunities for further training in both personal and corporate disciplines as well as travelling both abroad to shows and locally.

My passion is around planning and making (mathematical) models for various scenarios to optimize gross profit and other key strategic objectives and problem solving especially related to inventory plans and general growth. I do enjoy working with numbers and interpreting data for real word scenarios in the retail environment (details at interview stage). Retail is in my blood (literally 😊) and consider myself a trader. At Cape Union Mart we were empowered to trade ourselves out of stock (problem stock) and to trade to maximize turn over and GP. I enjoy working as part of a team to achieve common goals with good organizational and interpersonal skills. My subordinates included junior planners, allocators and admin assistants.  

I have a proven track record in implementation of new systems (IT, LEAN, data analysis), budget (and OTB) planning and stock control. (Details upon interview)
