Vongai Chibvongodze

Currently working under the Advisory Team of the consultancy Data Innovators, I provide Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Digital Data Solutions (DDS) services for development programme evaluations. As a Wits Master of Economic Science student, I am building my expertise to better understand economic and financial dynamics that influence socio-economic developments of Africa.

Currently as an Advisory Intern at Data Innovators I engage with stakeholders of development programmes to conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection, capturing, analysis (data and statistical), visualization and reporting writing to produce programme evaluation reports for clients.  My role also includes developing risk matrices, Theory of Change (TOC) frameworks and corresponding indicators to facilitate the evaluations. Clients I have worked with include Bezos Earth Fund, Climate Change AI (CCAI), Mastercard Foundation and Tiger Brands Foundation.
 

As an Evaluation Intern at CLEAR-AA I worked under the Research & Learning business line collecting and analysing data, report writing and preparing quarterly performance reports for Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of development programmes, informing policy decision-making in Anglophone African countries. I was also briefly worked as a Financial Operations Intern aligning and submitting payroll and travel expenditure documents to head finance office. Lastly, I was responsible for presenting quarterly business line reports to directors. Clients I serviced included Ford Foundation, Mastercard Foundation and British Council. 

My masters studies in economic science at the University of the Witwatersrand includes majors in Microeconomics, Applied Econometrics, Advanced Mathematical Economics, and Macroeconomics. It also includes electives in International Finance and Quants, and Economics of Competition and Regulation. I am part of the Wits Investment Society, and the Rethinking Economics for Africa movement.

My completed honours degree in economic science, also at Wits University, had majors in Advanced Econometrics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Advanced Mathematical Economics. Development Economics was taken as an elective. During this year I was a recipient of the Wits Postgraduate Merit Award Scholarship, and worked as a Mathematical Economics and Economic Statistics tutor to undergraduate students.
