Tlalane Mpharoane

I was born and raised in South Africa. Possess a BSc degree in Operations Research and Computer Science from North West University. Worked as a senior Operations Researcher for Sasol doing Optimization modeling using AspenPIMS; also worked for PetroSA as a Business Analyst. I have a total industry experience of 11 years. In 2020 I did 196-hours TEFL certification with The TEFLAcademy to explore a teaching avenue. I have also been running my own supply and delivery business since 2021. I have always incorporated Teaching and Training in my line of work because it is a passion of mine. I have trained over 100 candidates, some in management level, on optimization. I was a learning facilitator while studying at NWU and I have trained my daughter who is currently running her own successful supply and delivery business. I work well as stand alone and in teams of diverse cultures.

I started working in HR training dept. for PetroSA. Developing financial models for employee financial study assistance; Coordinating internal and external training. I trained two graduates.

As an LP modeler I was responsible for long term strategic planning for refinery production and refinery scorecard. As a Business Analyst I worked with a team of consultants on Business Process Reengineering for Logistics base. Tracked and reported Offshore Exploration and Production activities and recommended improvements. Financial modelling of oil well production life and negotiated contracts with service providers. As a senior Operations Researcher I developed and maintained Optimization models for Sasol multiple production facilities, Trained production planners on AspenPIMS and extensive research work on suitable scheduling tools. I mentored three Engineering graduates. Currently, I am running a supply and delivery business. 

A degree in Operations Research has propelled me into broadening my horizons when it comes to professional careers. It centers around problem solving, applying various tools and techniques. With a degree in Operations Research, one can work in various industries where a problem needs to be solved.

A certification in teaching has also helped me expand my horizons and learn many styles and tools for effective teaching, which is my passion.
