Thahira Syed

After obtaining my BSoc Sc Degree at the University of Natal in Politics and Sociology (with Drama as an extra major), and graduating with a First Class pass in Drama, I was invited to complete my Honours degree in Drama. I subsequently went on to work as a professional actor on some of the highest rated shows on South African television. 

In the corporate space, I have been engaged as Report Writer at Nedbank Group Limited (Head Office), within the Regulatory Change Portfolio, focusing on Regulatory and Compliance reporting. My responsibilities included editing, rewriting, and formatting reports to company best practice business reporting guidelines, ensuring a coherent narrative and a singular ‘voice’ for Project, Programme and Steering Committee reports. Always with multiple stakeholders, and to high pressure deadlines. 

Prior to this, I worked as the Executive Secretary/ PA to the UAE Ambassador to South Africa, and as a Research and Marketing Coordinator at Ad Outpost, an Out of Home (OOH)/ Outdoor advertising company. I have also been employed as Content Manager/ Content Producer and Researcher for the Reality TV show, ‘SA’s Kitchen Queens’ (Season 2), produced by Vusion Media, and have worked as a Qualitative Research Executive in Marketing at KLA (a strategic Market Research company), for a period of 2 years (Banking and Insurance sector, Television, and occasional FMCG). 

Lastly, I have freelanced in the field of Corporate Communications as a copywriter, researcher, copy editor, and content producer.
