During my time at the Sandton branch one of my biggest achievements was the productivity and efficiency of work flow in our store rooms. I had taken the initiative to keep our store room in a clean, tidy and productive space by going through it on a weekly basis. I personally enjoyed organizing the items but the main reason I made this task a major priority is that it gave me the knowledge of our stock. This knowledge was vital as I was able to assist my team in times of urgency, I relied on the system less and provided accurate information when the customer was querying the availability of stock and overall it gave me a sense of purpose. I found this action in our store rooms to be such an important tool for my team and would guarantee it was always in a productive and efficient state, even if it meant coming in earlier or giving up my lunch to maintain this duty. Since December of 2021, our need for an external store room had grown and it became a valuable addition to the team. I had taken a proactive approach by implementing an efficient process through a user-friendly platform. That enabled our team to seamlessly document and access stock information in both the internal and external storage areas. By equipping my team with the necessary knowledge, I had streamlined the utilization of the external storage, enhancing productivity when retrieving items.” As our company continued to expand, I had embraced numerous opportunities for personal growth. While I genuinely enjoyed and valued the organization of our storerooms, the past year has seen us bring in five Junior Assistants. I took it upon myself to play a significant role in their professional development. To alleviate some of the responsibilities of our manager and assistant manager, I took on the task of mentoring these junior team members and guiding them to the best of my ability. I took immense pride in their progress; they have evolved remarkably. They began as newcomers to the company and have since cultivated a remarkable level of sophistication and professionalism in their interactions with customers. Our journey together had seen them transition from customer service to actively participating in our weekly stock-taking processes and eventually mastering the opening and closing procedures of our store." "I take immense pride in getting to know each of my team members personally, recognizing that each person possesses unique strengths. Recently, my focus has shifted towards harnessing and nurturing these individual skills and talents by creating tailored development plans for each of these junior team member. This approach not only fosters their growth but also supports the ongoing development of our store's veterans. At that point in time, we had some team members specializing in stock receiving, while others are honing their customer service skills. When one of our assistant managers went on maternity leave, I seized the opportunity to contribute as effectively as possible to our team's success. Although these tasks involving the junior team members weren't initially assigned to me, I recognized the chance to maximize my productivity and fill a void within the team, avoiding any underutilization. In addition to taking charge of our store rooms to alleviate our team's workload, I also managed various other daily responsibilities. These included stock receiving, stock transfers between store and warehouse, processing customer returns with unwavering commitment until resolution, and efficiently managing supply orders for the store. I actively participated in the visual merchandising of our store and engage in our weekly stock-taking procedures. While our team collectively handles these tasks effectively, I consistently go the extra mile by willingly shouldering a larger workload while enhancing overall store productivity and efficiency."
