Shivanie Singh

I graduated from the University of Johannesburg in the year 2014 with a BA in Tourism Development. I did work in corporate for a few years where I realized I was in the wrong field and teaching is what I truly desired to do as a career. I completed my PGCE in the year 2018, majoring in History, Tourism and Social Science. I am academically inclined; I can adapt and learn when it comes to the sport field which I believe can be valuable to your school as many educators these days are not easily adaptable. I am fully literate in setting exam papers, lesson planning as well as marking according to the IEB curriculum from Primary school and High school. I am well equipped with the knowledge of the latest teaching pedagogies, along with having stimulated teaching methods both in a resourced and under resourced school. Due to my experiences teaching both High School and Primary School and dealing with learners from all types of backgrounds that in term brought many different personalities to my classroom has helped me develop many discipline strategies that refrains from corporate punishment 100%. 

I am a very driven teacher; I am very passionate about education. I always strive to always maintain a safe and functional teaching environment. I apply the learner centered approach in my classroom where different strategies are used such as technology, class discussions and open-ended questions. Being a teacher of this generation, I can relate more to learners and my lessons are more dynamic.

I am very universal human being; I do not judge people and children of different backgrounds. I am always willing to learn from others to better myself in any environment I am put in. I am hard working, dedicated and always strive to achieve the best I can. It would be a privileged to meet with you and discuss my skills further. Thank you for your time and consideration.
