About Sbusiso Magubane:

I have more than twenty-five years of management and leadership experience gained through my designation as Deputy Director, School Principal, Provincial Operations Manager, Educator Trainer District Coordinator, Departmental Head, and Educator within the public sector as well as within NGO settings. 

Experience

Seconded by Beyond Zero to the Department of Basic Education to:

  • Provide strategic and technical support to the KZN provincial education department in the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the Global Fund Adolescents and Young People (GF AYP) programme in the identified priority sub-districts within the Global Fund districts.
  • Develop and guide the implementation programme to operationalise various programmes in the province across all districts.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the participation of education officials in war rooms within the province.
  • Facilitate and coordinate various events like World AIDS Day, Africa Day, and 16 Days of Activism against GBV.
  • Draft and compile event concepts and brief notes for ministers, MECs, and mayors for the events mentioned above.
  • Mobilise provincial education department, municipalities, Provincial AIDS Councils, Universities, communities, research organisations as well as NGOs and civic organisations in support of the education sector-wide response to HIV, STIs, TB, and social ills.
  • Oversee and coordinate the establishment of relevant community structures to deal with issues of youth. elderly, disabled, and women.
  • Identify and engage project partners including funders.
  • Compile a project activity schedule aligned to the budget comprising of the main and sub-activities, milestones, objectively verifiable indicators, timeframes, and individuals responsible for each activity. 
  • Monitor project implementation through regular meetings with grant beneficiaries, steering committee meetings, site visits and documentation reviews;
  • Liaising with key role players and stakeholders to ensure their participation in various forums and development projects.
  • Support and coordinate the comprehensive monitoring, evaluation and reporting objectives of the directorate’s programmes.
