Sarah van Appel

Enthusiastic Graphic Designer and Fine Artist, I use my experience in various media to expand communication and develop a space for creativity.

My studies focused of Visual Art while I learnt web development on the side. The combination promoted critical thinking with enough space for the unplanned and imaginative to play a role.

Web Developer (2023-2025) 

• Including the creation and maintenance of client's websites. 
• Some opted for social media support, which was published according to their preference. 
• Websites were created using WordPress with the Elementor Pro plugin.
• For all of my graphic designs I worked using the Affinity line of software. I do hold some experience using Adobe but Affinity has been my go-to since 2014.

High School Visual Art Teacher Internship (Jan 2024 - Oct 2024) 

• Assisted with grade 10 to grade 12 Visual Art students.
• Taught Digital Technology to grade 8 and 9. This was an introduction to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. The students were also introduced to coding language through Scratch.
• Responsible for a grade 11 register class and taught Life Orientation to them. This position included various admin management of the students within the class and social activities happening throughout the year.
• Other roles included substituting for absent teachers, preparing and invigilating exams, and being involved with extra-mural sports and activities.
