After qualifying as a maintenance electrician in the coal mining industry (open pit experience) I gained extensive experience at Exxaro Coal Mine (Grootegeluk) in Lephalale in fault finding, problem solving and maintenance of all LV and HV equipment associated with the industry. Additional experience in the maintenance, repair and calibration of all plant instruments and PLC controls was gained. Training in Siemens equipment and PLC programming was also a beneficial skill that I gained during this time.
I left the coal mine in May 2007 and moved to Brits South Africa, the reason for leaving was because of a housing shortage in Lephalale. In Brits I gained a lot of experience on various types of heating elements, ball mill crushers and VSD’s and various soft starters. In July 2011 I attended a course in soft starters and drives. Work included maintenance and repairs on induction heating coils for Vanadium Processing. I was also in charge of the upgrading of the kiln for D.C drives to A.C drives.
I left Evraz Vametco in July 2013 and moved to Steelpoort to further my career in Planning, I started working as the Commissioning Planner for Glencore Lion Phase 2, an R 6 billion expansion project to double the current smelters size. My duties included setting up of the radar for tracking flow of the commissioning,being the link between the construction and operational to receive due dates on when what can be commissioned. I also attended an internal SAP course on maintenance planning. I started working at Glencore as a maintenance planner for the furnace department after the plant commissioning was completed. Here. My day-to-day tasks included planning complete rebuilds; shutdown planning; maintenance planning cost reporting and all procurement.
In 2018 I was promoted as the Planning Coordinator where I was in charge of five planners and four planning clerks. My main purpose is to provide technical and business process support to the maintenance and operations departments. I coordinate the maintenance work. I also improve equipment reliability by implementing systems.
I left Lion Smelter in 2022 and started as a maintenance planning manager at FM solutions in Capetown where I am currently residing at. I am in charge of developing sound maintenance systems for a couple of contracts with major retail business units.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
2002- 2005 Completed National N3 Certificate at Ellisras technical college. I also did some odd jobs as an electrical contractor at this time.
2005-2007 Completed my trade as Electrician at GROVOS training center and received my red seal and a certificate in, FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN ELECTRICAL NLRD NO: 23625 REF NUMBER 16/LP/53827/04
2022 Unit Standards: Test, inspect and certification of electrical installations.
