Rephaim mpofu

Dr. Rephaim Mpofu is a medical doctor and clinical pharmacology specialist with a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Clinical Pharmacology. His professional interests include clinical research, medical affairs, pharmacoeconomics and drug-related health policy governance.

He is currently a PhD Candidate under a Clinical Fellowship at the University of Cape Town. His research is focused on the pharmacology of antiretroviral therapy in people with HIV. During his specialisation training, he provided contributions to essential clinical pharmacology services within the Cape Town Metro District. He has also contributed to research and policy support, serving on various key committees, including the University of Cape Town Human Research Ethics Committee, National Essential Medicines List Committee, Western Cape Provincial Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (PTC), and Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital PTC.   

He has previous experience as a research investigator at the Perinatal HIV Research Unit with the Wits Health Consortium, where he conducted research on preventative HIV and Human Papilloma Virus vaccines.

Dr. Rephaim Mpofu graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) in 2013. He received his specialist fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology in 2022, and was awarded with a Master of Medicine in Clinical Pharmacology in 2023. He also holds a Diploma in HIV management, received in 2018.
