Raynier Nagel

I am a South African native. I am currently the assistant tennis coach at VCU. VCU is currently ranked 29 ITA and won conference the past 3 years.  Following a six-year stint as an assistant tennis coach at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. During my tenure at ULM, I ran the training program, led the individual and team practices and assisted in recruitment.

At ULM, I guided the Warhawks to a Sunbelt Conference Tournament Championship in 2017 and a top 50 ITA ranking. In addition, I led them to the tournament semifinals in 2018.

The Warhawks peaked at No. 46 in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings during the 2011 season, it was ULM's first national ranking since 2003. In 2012, I helped lead the Warhawks to a 76-28 singles record including a 19-4 record in Sun Belt play. ULM was 38-12 in doubles including 6-3 in Sun Belt play. Medy Blankvoort earned All-Sun Belt honors after going 16-1 overall and 4-0 in conference.

In December of 2012, I spent my time being a hitting partner for Shahar Peer, who was formerly ranked No. 11 in the world and is the most successful Israeli woman to ever play on the WTA tour. 

I was a standout student-athlete at the University of South Alabama, where I played from 2006 to 2008. My playing career was highlighted by compiling a 20-1 overall record in 2008 and guiding South Alabama to become the Sunbelt Conference Championship in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, he and his doubles partner, Jack Baker, ranked as high as No. 11 in the ITA Regional Doubles rankings.
