I am a qualified and experienced social worker currently working at Ministry of Health and Social Services as adult social worker. It’s a Government ministry that implementing programs to prevent, protect and promote the health and well-being of adults and their families by providing professional social work services to the clients.  My work involves working directly with adults and families, and promote client in maintaining choice and control of their lives. It involves engaging and assessing the risks of vulnerable older peoples, peoples living with disability, substance misuse, mental health, elderly related concerns, marital and family problems and those who seek psychosocial support, therapeutic and Trauma counseling.

I have experiences providing counseling to clients with mental health problem. I am also responsible for reintegration of clients into community after discharged from mental health hospital and those abandoned by their family. I implement mental health act, social welfare act and National disability acts. These acts are guiding on how to render psychosocial support to clients and their families.  For example if a client diagnosed with severe mental health I do a holistic assessment , I provide counseling to both client and family I refer client and family  to Medical Doctor to complete Medical disability grant application and then I link a client to Ministry of poverty for processing of disability grant.

I am a good communicator, and listener and able to build positive working relationships in a team and multi-agencies working environment. I am good in identifying unmet needs and then offer support services while working towards the safety and stability of those with care and support needs whilst being guided by Namibian Legislations and social policies. I am capable Human Rights and Social Justice Advocate. I have good understanding in the use of Social Work values and principles, research, theories and various methodologies.

I am currently attending weekly mentoring on UK Adult Social Care and safeguarding sessions provided by an experienced senior social work and Practice Educator based in the UK. This opportunity has enhanced my knowledge of the legislations that underpin adult social practices. In addition I do my on research to understand Social care wales and Social Worker code of practice in wales. I am currently looking for an opportunity to practice in the UK given the chance to relocate. I believe given the chance, I would add value to your organisation.
