Nicholas Francis

My name is Nicholas Francis and I am currently in my final year of studies at UWC. I am a Information Systems and management major, and I also do numerous online courses alongside my studies to add to my arsenal of knowledge, particularly in development. I am currently partaking in a back- end engineer course on Codecademy and numerous courses on cloud technology via Amazon and TRENDsCampus. The Codecademy course has allowed me to obtain 5 (and counting) certificates along the way. Before the year concludes I'd like to further my knowledge on programming by doing as many course as I can and building cool projects that I would be able to share on GitHub!

I hope to be able to join the big world of Tech after my studies as it is something that I am very passionate about, having been around such environments for most of my 21 years.  Motorsports is my main interest outside of technology. I am a huge Formula 1 and MotoGP fan, however anything involving an engine, some wheels and a finish line peaks my interest

I was an intern at Acorn Technology from 2020-2022.
As an intern at Acorn Technology my responsibilities included:
 • Assisted in web development of their ecommerce platform, including the integration of APIs 
• Client data backup and recovery via platforms such as StorVault, Veritas Backup Exec etc both physical and cloud based 
• End user computing configuration and installation 
• Creation of cloud environments i.e., virtual machine (VM) storage 
• Configuration of software as per client requirements
 • Assisted in development of business process solutions

Bcom student majoring in Information Systems and Business Management. As for Information Systems, I have been able to do both the technical and non-technical stream of things. Meaning that I have a good understanding of various programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, PHP, SQL etc as well as heaps of theoretical knowledge on things such as ERP Systems, Cloud etc
