About Naledi Qhetso:

I am a multifaceted registered Natural Scientist with cumulative expertise in Geoscience, Industrial Engineering & Computation (Data Science, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence). I have acquired technical proficiency in multiple software packages used in geological data repository, geological modeling & management, mine planning and data warehouse management. As such, my role has advanced in business sustainability and monitoring. This comes with a direct contribution to mineral resource management and continuous regional business improvement and mine technical services optimization. Furthermore, I contribute towards organizational skills set and mine health and safety standards compliance.

Experience

I am currently a graduate geologist in a Platinum mine in Rustenburg. My duties are but not limited to:

 

 

 

 

 

  • Supervising underground geology drilling (cover & prospect) programme and mapping of underground developments. 
  • Ensure correct capturing and interpretation of geological logging, observations and mappings. 
  • Database management and information audit on geology systems, e.g. MineRP and Sable Warehouse. 
  • Descriptive statistical analysis, summarizing, organizing and presentation of evaluation data.
  • Conducting regular software related challenges and liaising with services for improved solutions.
  • Establishing, compiling, maintaining and developing geological standards
  • Conduct monthly and annual updates of the structural models and geological plans, i.e. contours and isopach models (reef domains boundary change, i.e. UG2 undercutting project). 
  • Perform accurate measurement of geological and mining losses. 
  • Implementing effective controls and procedures through underground production coaching.
  • Review (year-on-year in depth analysis) & advise on the maximum exploitation of the ore body and consolidation of resources and reserves(R&R) and database maintenance thereof.
  • Investigating reasons for grade variation and white area investigations.
  • Provide geological advice about on-reef & off-reef development, outlining both current and future risks and potential through extrapolation. 
  • Advise on ore deposits and related risks for effective mine planning, mine layouts and related projects. 
  • Achieving optimum grade by mitigating the impact of geological anomalies.
  • Ensure compliance to organizational and legislative standards, procedures and safety requirements. 
  • Cultivating a healthy work environment within evaluation and geology department and the broader technical services organization to improve cultural transformation and synergy to adopt a unified objective.
