Experience

  • I tutored English literature at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Howard College for 2.5 years, aiding several students in improving their grades and making some friends along the way. I also learned a lot more about literature through deep diving into the work in order to best teach it. Some of the works I went over include writings from Shakespear, William Blake, T.S. Elliot, Virginia Woolf, J.M. Coetzee, Zakes Mda and others.
  • I worked at the University of Durban Technology in 2021, teaching a cornerstone module that aimed at empowering students with the knowledge to conduct research, improve their writing and analytical skills and understand important ethical concepts. 
  • I am now at the University of the Western Cape, completing an MA and teaching classes at the university's English department.

Education

  • I completed my BA degree with one of my majors being English, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. 
  • I then completed an honours degree in English literature the following year, which was more critically focused and in-depth. 
  • I completed a TEFL course from i-to-i.com, having done an online examination and successfully progressing through a workshop assessment that was organized by the U.K. teachers in South Africa.
