Mlondi Magubane

Mlondi Magubane was born in Pimville, Soweto. He describes himself as a visual practitioner. He studied 
photography at the Market Photo Workshop in 2019, Film&Television at Revolution Media Academy in 
2022. He currently lives and works in Johannesburg. He has collaborated with artists Mduduzi Ncube
and Kunle Ayo. Magubane’s interests are environmental portraiture, landscapes and studio product 
shots. Most of his conceptual work focuses on subcultures and indigenous knowledge. 
In 2021 he photographed crafts for the Dubai Craft Show. He is a resident of Occupying The Gallery and 
has been part of group exhibitions that include, Bazobuya (2023) at Keys Art Mile, Johannesburg, (Le)
Lapha (2023) curated by Mary Sibande, at SMAC Gallery, Johannesburg, Bazobuya (2024) curated by 
Lawrence Lemaona, at the KZNSA Gallery in Durban, and more recently RMB Latitudes Art Fair (2025), 
Johannesburg.
