Michelle Bergsma

I am currently working in a highly pressurised accounting environment as a Record to Report Manager, overseeing the Assets, Projects and General Accounting, Payroll Accounting areas for The Foschini Group.

I am a detailed-oriented, efficient and organized professional with extensive experience

in accounting systems, processes and procedures. Possess strong analytical and problem, solving skills, with the ability to make strategic decisions. Conceptual thinker and possess strong leadership qualities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient coaching and training skills.   

I am currently a Record to Report manager at The Foschini Group and manage a team of 25 accountants responsible for Assets & Projects, General Accounting, Payroll Accounting, Bank reconciliation but not limited to these functions.

My previous role within The Foschini Group was Finance Manager for IT, Head Office Marketing, eCommerce & Forensics. In this role I assisted 58 cost centre managers with their financial planning and analysis processes as well as Executive summary reporting. Always implementing improvements in financial and internal controls and efficiencies in reporting processes. Assist Finance systems analysts with improvements in budgeting reporting for HR, Capex and Opex.

My previous employee was Old Mutual SA and I performed various functions as a Financial/Management Accountant performing reconciliations for fixed assets, bank, payroll, vat, debtors, creditors, short term incentives, leave provisions. Responsible for ensuring the implementation of a budgeting tool called IDU (BI tool) to ensure a streamlined budgeting and forecast processes.

I qualified as a Professional Accountant in Dec 2022 with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants.

I also have a Post Graduate Diploma (NQF8) in Internal Auditing from UNISA
