Lindo Mbatha

I am a highly motivated, organized person and through taking part in international programs and training I have learned to embrace and celebrate diversity. I am very willing and able to learn new skills and always perform tasks to the best of my ability.

I get very energized by working with youth in various settings. I have excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and can speak English and Zulu.  As community/youth program person at a local NGO’s, World Changers Academy, YMCA and Vuleka Centre, my responsibilities included: administration and overseeing the running of training courses in various communities, organizing speakers, facilitating classes and liaising with community leaders.

I have also had the privilege of working with international teams, both before they arrived in South Africa and while they were working with youth programs. With my local and international experience over ten years  in working with youth I believe I can positively contribute to your organization..

I have over 10 years of diverse work experience, in which I have develop the following skills:

• In 2022 I practically learned vegetables production in a 5 months course, growing them from seedlings to harvesting stage.
• Administration Skills- I am able to use Microsoft word, power Point and excel. I have a very good typing skill.
• Facilitation Skills- I’ve facilitated Life skills and team buildings to school youth and those out of school.
• Counselling-I have been involved in doing general counselling for youth in communities I work with through Vuleka Center.
• Social media management skills- I have been managing Richard Nwamba’s facebook page, he is a radio personality and public figure knowledgeable on anything African more especially African music. His radio show The African Connection while on SAfm taught me more about the value of music, artist and the beauty of African & Diaspora diversity. He is now with radio 702. I also manage South Africa YMCA twitter handle and other various pages.
• Planning, organising skills- I have been planning and organising out of school youth life skills program, leadership camps for youth from communities within eThekwini and interacting with diverse stakeholders in various communities.
• Mediation skills – I have worked at Pinetown Magistrate court doing mediation and diversion program to help young offenders that are in conflict with the law to be restored back to society.
• Customer service – I have worked as a tourist guide and been in front to most engagements with stakeholders & beneficiaries of World Changers Academy and Vuleka Center programs.
• Managing Diversity – I have been involved at YMCA programs in South Africa, Africa and internationally working with very diverse communities. I have grown in communicating with people and have learned to understand different people and their uniqueness.
• Network and Negotiation skills – I have lot of passion for Africa and Diaspora music, being a collector of such music I have been connected and negotiated with people of various backgrounds and have them sharing their music.
