Manufacturing manager:

Strategy and Development                         

  • Roll-out the production vision by using and improving the current management and communication tools in the assigned section or shift.
  • Enhance procedures to aid and improve operational performance, especially with efficiency and quality.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and communicate the impact on manufacturing activities
  • Increase the manufacturing operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery and manage/implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles 

People Management

  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements 
  • Review departmental KPIs and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels
  • Monitor the completion of tasks and record on appropriate systems
  • Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments
  • Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware 
  • Manage the development of department employees
  • Ensure compliance to all IR and HR systems, policies
  • Manage the performance of departmental staff, including the mentoring, coaching and evaluation thereof

Financial and Budget Control 

  • Plan and control operational and capital budgets 

General and Task Management 

  • Section operation planning for JIT processes in Sewing, cutting and headrest.
  • Manage Production daily activities. 
  • Report on target achievement and identify further actions as required 
  • Effectively delegate any issues to be resolved on each shift
  • Ensure management of systems and equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards and accuracy  
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions 
  • Produce written reports and make presentations 
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization 
  • Key performance impact 
  • Develop, implement and manage indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility 
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department 
  • Travel locally and abroad should the need arise

Relationship Management 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments within TBSA
  • Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained 
  • Support encourage and develop team and take ownership for team cohesion 
  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere

Education

Qualification : B-Tech Mechanical Engineering.
