Lindani Mbatha

Career Profile 

Lindani commenced his career at eThekwini municipality in 2013 where he served as an accounting assistant in the pension fund department of the municipality for a period of 1 years.  Thereafter he moved to National Housing Finance corporation to occupy a credit analyst position. This was a financial service company which funded intermediaries or development companies in the housing industry and was wholly owned by Department of human settlement. 

These were entry level jobs of Lindani’s career where he played a key role in investments administration, implementation of finance policies, running of the financial processes, involved in operational and administrative affairs of projects, and he was responsible for credit analysis of clients that remained under his portfolio. This included credit appraisals of applicants, their financial statement analysis and liaison with them about project proceedings. 

Lindani also played a huge role in higher education, both public and private. Beside being a part time tutor, he got employed by Durban commercial College, then went to replace the accounting lecturer at Durban University of Technology in 2016 and then ICESA college in 2017. Lindani was responsible for developing and delivering subject content, managing lecture room, running student’s assessment process, and other student related matters. In 2018, Lindani joined a public institution, J&E Foundation as finance manager. This was a Non-Profit organization working under Global Fund involved in providing economic strengthening programs for young women. I was responsible for managing the whole finance of the company for their Zululand District economic strengthening project. His duties as a finance manager included tracking cash flow, managing the budget and financial report specifically for the project, financial planning as well as analyzing financial strengths and weaknesses for the project and proposing corrective actions. Part of his responsibilities involved, managing project’s implementation sites for J&E Foundation, managing assets assigned to the project, implementation of financial policies in procurement of equipment and tools, invoicing of donors and payment of creditors etc.

Lindani was recently employed by Future Chartered Accountants since 2019 after J&E foundation. For over 5 years, he is doing municipal internal audits and preparation of financial statements, focusing on bank and cash, investments, expenditure, assets, revenue, SCM and other various components in finance depending on duties assigned.
