Experience
As an introduction to the working environment, I began my
career within the Retail Industry, I worked as a Talent
Acquisition Administrator at EDCON Group. This is where I
acquired the foundation of my many needed HR skills and
abilities such as Administration, Communication, Reporting,
Time & Project Management, Patience, Creativity, Proactivity,
Problem-solving, Ethics, Organisation, etc.) that are required as
an HR Professional. Herein, I was introduced to Recruitment
and Selection whereby I administered Mass Recruitment and
Festive Season Recruitment for some EDCON Stores within the
Free State and Northern Cape region.
I further moved to SBV Services where I advanced on my
previous experience more intensely. The pace and demand of
the work environment increased in that recruitment was done
more often than in my previous job. The responsibilities
increased and I further acquired reporting skills and learning the
use of systems and procedures.
I continued onto John Williams Motors which is within the Motor
Industry. This is a fast-paced and highly goal orientated
industry, as it involves a broader spec of employees and other
stakeholders. My position as HR / Salaries Admin mostly
exposed me to the Payroll Administration side of HR. I was
involved in the employee payroll admin, employee engagement
process which evolved employee reliability checks, employee
compensation and benefits, union membership admin,
bargaining council requirements and other HR AdHoc etc.
To date; I have been employed with Dots Design Agency as the
HR Officer / HR Team Leader. This company is within the
Marketing, Events and Communications Industry. Here I
initiated the HR department, which was non-existent on my
joining the company. It is a long term based company and is still
growing within a highly fragmented industry. By working in this
company helped in my confidence-boosting, taught me
sustainability, how to be a self-starter and the skill to initiate. I
learned how to create policies, ensuring compliance, regulation
of Labour Acts, implementation of HR goals and strategies.
