Lesego George Temane

My name is George L. Temane, and I am a clinical psychologist with a deep interest in the ways in which philosophy and spirituality influence our lives. 

I believe that many of the challenges we face in life stem from the questions we have about living.

I operate a hybrid practice that offers both online and in-person services as an independent clinical psychologist. My primary focus is on promoting the well-being of my clients and helping them tap into their unique and innate ability to create happiness. 

I am particularly inspired by human resilience, healthy relationships, and optimal functioning.

Helping others is an integral part of my life, and I find great joy in guiding people to become the best versions of themselves in their personal, professional, social, and spiritual lives. I have extensive experience in various areas of mental health care, and I am most passionate about helping my clients create happiness in their lives through my practice.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a non-judgmental space in which to build the lives my clients seek to live. My goal is to empower my clients, help them become more self-aware, and foster a sense of calm and courage within them.

I firmly believe that no human difficulty, trauma, tragedy, or challenge is too great to overcome or understand. My role as a psychotherapist is to help my clients develop the capacities they need to manage the many challenges they face. I believe that psychotherapy is a critical process that can facilitate growth and healing.

I am a qualified and experienced psychologist who has worked in various settings and with diverse populations. I have expertise in psychotherapy, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, substance rehabilitation, positive psychology, and restorative justice. I have also supervised clinical psychology interns and other mental health care professionals. Some of the places where I have worked are:

• The Institute for PsychoSocual Wellbeing, North-West University, where I provided psychotherapy and psychological assessment for students and staff of the university.
• Student Counselling and Development Hnit, North-West University, where I offered crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and psychological assessment for people with mood, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. I also supervised various mental health care professionals and assessed psychological disabilities for academic concessions.
• The Witrand Psychiatric Hospital, where I conducted psychological assessment using cognitive, neuropsychological, personality, and emotional measures for patients with mood, anxiety, adjustment, psychotic, and neurological disorders. I also provided psychotherapy and care for the intellectually disabled. In addition, I supervised clinical psychology interns at this facility.
• The Krugersdorp Correctional Services, where I delivered psychotherapy for inmates with adjustment, personality, and mood disorders. I also helped them with substance rehabilitation, positive psychology interventions and programs, restorative justice and parole readiness. I also performed comprehensive psychological assessment for parole consideration, which evaluated the risk and suitability of inmates for release.
