About Lebogang Mocwaledi:

Lebogang is a certified Development Finance Analyst with a master's degree in development finance from Stellenbosch University. He has over 20 years' work experience in the following disciplines: small and medium enterprises development and finance (SMME), deal making/structuring, Account Management, Due diligence process, Socio-economic development. Local economic development, Business and Project Management. Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment. Implementation and facilitation of Employee Ownership Structures and Community Shareholding.

 

Lebogang has worked in Development Finance Institutions for nearly two decades and has had a varied career at Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) serving different roles. Previously joining the IDC, he was employed as a Program Officer (Youth Entrepreneurship Education) at the then Umsobomvu Youth Fund (UYF) currently known as the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). 

 

He was involved in grant and loan finance structuring using blended finance for social enterprises, profit making companies as well as non-profit organizations. Over the course of his career, Lebogang has implemented projects in different industries including but not limited to Energy (renewable energy projects), Agro-Processing, Industrial Infrastructure, Light and Heavy Manufacturing, Textiles, Mining & Metals etc. He also served on several Boards of Trustees and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Experience

Lebogang is a strategic visionary with 23 years of experience and a proven ability to drive business transformation, develop sustainable strategies, and foster socio-economic development. 

 

In his current role as Senior Manager: Social Transformation Lead at Price Waterhouse & Cooper, he showcases his exceptional leadership skills by overseeing diverse teams and spearheading cross-functional collaborations. His expertise in socio economic development, social transformation value propositions and strategy development enables him to identify opportunities for transformation and guide organizations towards achieving their strategic goals. 

Prior to his current position, he served as the Principal Local Economic Development at South32 Hotazel Mines. During his tenure, he successfully facilitated and developed projects aligned with local government development plans and business priorities. 

As a Socio-Economic Development Specialist at the Industrial Development Corporation. He established community and workers trusts of business partners, enabling employee ownership and community shareholding in IDC-funded transactions. He also facilitated and implemented the Social Entrepreneurship Fund and Special Intervention Fund for the social economy.

He has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive impactful change and deliver positive outcomes. His earlier positions as an Account Manager and Corporate Social Investment Officer at the Industrial Development Corporation allowed him to refine his skills in stakeholder engagement, project management, and deal making. He also structured deals in multiple industries such as Agro-Processing, Industrial Infrastructure, Textiles, Mining and Metals including renewable energy industry etc. 

Furthermore, his experience as a Program Officer at Umsobomvu Youth Fund and a Project Planner at the Department of Land Affairs provided him with a well-rounded understanding of youth entrepreneurship, community development and land management.
