Laura Schoon

I am a Christian and mature professional with 33 year's experience in the field of crime, security and risk management, OHS compliance and business continuity management. 

I offer 9 years experience in the SAPS, 14 years in the private security industry and the last 9 years in the public sector, responsible for the implementation of physical security measures. I have managed various projects including, but not limited to a fire compliance audit and upgrade, installation of security systems (CCTV, biometric, scanning equipment, alarm systems) and the upgrade of our security control room - all these on a national footprint. I participated in a business continuity project where we coordinated the full spectrum of the business continuity lifecycle. This resulted in all our business units and regional offices being set to manage any form of disruption, and the organisation being able to continue rendering services at all times.  

I would like the opportunity to apply my skills and knowledge in an environment where the lives of less fortunate are impacted. My security experience will ensure that risks experienced are addressed in the most cost-effective manner, ensuring return of investment, while my experience on OHS business continuity will contribute to contingency planning, ensuring resiliency at all times. 

I have a heart for people and while being risk oriented, and believe that I will definitely impact your operations in a positive manner. 

In terms of education; I am currently doing my Master's Degree on the “Role of Physical Security in Business Continuity”.
