My name is Kyla Kruger, ‘m currently completing my community service at Radie Kotze Hospital in Piketberg in teh Western cape, after my Comserve I’m moving to Cape Town.

 I am an aspiring Diagnostic Radiographer looking for an opportunity to showcase my knowledge of radiographic imaging. I have hands on experience with CR, DR, C-Arm, Mobile and Fluoroscopy equipment. I have excellent communication and problem-solving skills I am committed to being compassionate, punctual and a team player. And lastly “Patient Care is my Passion”.

The responsibilities of being a student included:

• Working with CR and DR x-ray equipment.
• Utilizing good communication skills towards patients and other health care professionals.
• Assisting Radiologists during CT, MRI, and Fluoroscopy procedures.
• Applying academic knowledge to carry out general X-Rays.
• Prepare and positioning patients for general x-rays and improvising according to the patient’s mobility/ability.
• Applying the ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) Principle in terms of radiation Protection and safety protocols.

The responsibilities of being a Community Service Diagnostic Radiographer:

• Working with a Conventional film system.
• Implementing effective communication techniques with patients and other medical personnel
• Applying innovation in performing general X-Rays.
• Working as the only Radiographer for the Hospital and the surrounding clinics and private practices. Occasionally as the only Radiographer for the entire Bergrivier district when the Radiographer from LAPA Munnik is on leave or on sick leave.
• Doing the QA and QC tests for the Conventional Film system and Processor.
• Having to do the statistics for the radiography department as well as the stock orders for the department.
• Applying academic knowledge and clinical experience to carry out general X-Rays.
• Prepare and positioning patients for general x-rays and improvising according to the patient’s mobility/ability.
