Kwena Cedrick Mashala

I am a seasoned and energized investigator holding the rank of Sergeant with 12 years' experience in South African Police Service probing commercial crimes. Currently I am working together with Group Forensic and Investigation Services (GFIS) of City of Johannesburg investigating the cases implicating the City officials and members of society. As the active member of ACFE, I know what is expected of me when investigating commercial crimes and other complex crimes. 

To date I have managed to secure a number of convictions, also gave impressive testimony in court of law and disciplinary hearing against the officials. From my investigation career, I have had better opportunity to conduct successful investigations displaying attention to details, investigation skills, tracing skills, integrity, ethical conduct, written and verbal communication skills. Furthermore, I was privileged to be the member of several units within SAPS due to my dedication including Tracing Team, Serious and Violent Crimes at the cluster level.

During the performance of my duties, I usually interact with the NPA regarding the charges and evidence proving the case. In addition, liaising with other relevant departments and law enforcement agencies during the process of the investigation. Obtaining of proper affidavits from both witnesses and suspects, executing of the warrants, serving the summons to the witnesses and suspects. Collection and safe keeping of the exhibits collected from the crime scene.

I am in possession of the following tertiary qualifications: National Diploma in Policing, Higher Certificate in Criminal Investigation and Forensic Investigation, Certificate in Forensic and Investigative Auditing, Certificate in Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crime Investigations and Certificate in Computer. Moreover, I am currently studying Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with UNISA since the year 2020.
