Please find below a detailed breakdown of my extensive experience and expertise. I have been working in the corporate environment for approximately 22 years. I am a quick learner and have worked in multiple industries, gaining a wide variety of professional and soft skills. I started my career at Medicine, a pharmaceutical company, in a contractual role as a filing clerk. Within a month, I was offered and accepted a permanent role as a cashbook clerk, simply because I had the drive and ambition to advance myself. I completed my filing tasks ahead of time and made management aware that I was available for additional tasks, which led to me assisting the cashbook clerk. When a position opened within a month, it was offered to me. Shortly after taking on the cashbook function, I volunteered to take on the creditors function as well. 

I believe that I am ambitious and driven individual. I take advantage of opportunities as they arise and always make the most of given situations. At Easigas, the second company in my professional journey, I accepted a role as a creditors clerk with a TCOE of R7,500 per month. By the end of my tenure, which was approximately 3 years, my TCOE had increased to R16,000 per month. I left Easigas to explore the world. I had discovered the 2-year holiday visa for the UK, and as a twenty something, it felt like I had struck gold.

I used an agency to obtain the working holiday visa. An agent was meant to receive me in the UK and assist with finding a job, accommodation, etc. However, he advised me that I could only get a job as a call center agent earning £6 an hour, and he could have me placed in a role by Monday (it was Thursday). That didn’t sound right to me, so I asked him to give me a minute to process. I visited an internet café nearby and googled recruitment agents in London, where I stumbled across Robert Half International. I called them and introduced myself. They called me in for an interview the same day, and by the next day, they had a role for me in the accounting field, earning £11.50 an hour. I used every cent earned in the UK to travel the UK and Europe. I googled, researched, uncovered discounted websites like lastminute.com, and spoke to locals, which led me to take advantage of every opportunity presented to me. I had two working assignments and travelled to over ten different countries and cities. 

Two years prior to relocating to the UK, I agreed to assist a friend with transport to view a property. The property was not suitable for her expanding family, so she jokingly said to me, "Why don’t you buy it?" And I did. I purchased that property for R230,000. Fast forward two years, I sold that property for R480,000 to relocate to the UK.

When I returned to SA, I accepted a role as a local accounts payable clerk but was quickly given additional tasks such as fixed assets and foreign creditors. Similarly, at Betway and Sunbet, I handled multiple tasks and was promoted at least twice. 

At Sunbet, I started in a contractual role with a TCOE of X per month. The contract was meant to last 6 months, but I was offered a permanent role with good increases, promotions, and bonuses, and I left on a TCOE of more than double what I started with. Sometimes in life, it does not matter where you start or how many times you need to start; it’s about exploring different options in your journey, enjoying the journey, and finishing well. With that said, I am highly negotiable on salary and position.
