Kirsten Botha

My favourite line of poetry is one by a favourite poet, T.S. Eliot. In his poem, The Love Song of  J. Alfred Prufrock, he asks himself, “Do I dare disturb the universe?” This is something I often ask my students—and indeed, myself. What is it that disturbs the universe, you might ask? My answer: radical intentionality, uncompromising integrity, and undeniable passion. I like to think I pursue these traits every day as a scholar, writer, teacher, editor, and genuine lover of people.

• I am currently a senior English teacher at Beaulieu College in Kyalami. I have taught there since 2021.
• I lectured English at the University of Pretoria from 2016-2020.
• I tutored English from 2014-2015.
