Kimmey-Li Yacumakis

Being able to study the details of how the human body functions optimally, sparks my interest. I am a versatile individual who is dedicated and eager to learn. I have a keen eye for detail and am adept at method development and research. My experience includes working in a laboratory environment while completing my BSc Honn in Physiology & Biochemistry and MSc in Biochemistry. During this time, I gained expertise in chemical, analytical, and quality control principles and operated general laboratory equipment such as PCR, electrophoresis, HPLC-MS/MS, etc. I was also responsible for maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, and reading and interpreting test results was a daily requirement. After spending quality time with my
two newborn children since 2019, I am now keen to pick up the development of a meaningful career in biochemistry and/or research in a related field.

Starting off as a Practical Demonstrator for Biochemistry students I moved on to being a Junior Lecturer for Biology students. I also gained experience as a Research Consultant, an online course developer using Moodle. Since 2017 I have been tutoring subjects like Biochemistry, Biology and Physical Science in my spare time.  

I finished Matric with subjects like Biology, Mathematics and Natural Science and went on to study BSc Physiology & Biochemistry, after which I finished my Honors degree in Biochemistry and then my MSc Biochemistry degree.
