Experienced Residence Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the Institutions of Higher Learning, specifically in the Student Housing/Accommodation field and managing the Residence Life in residences. I have a strong work ethic. I have a proven ability in forming good interpersonal relationships. I am an educated individual in possession of Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Science Honours (Public Policy) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Higher Education Act and Policy on minimum norms and standards for Student Housing, including Rental Act of 1999, at public universities. I have knowledge and experience in admitting and placing students in their respective residences using the online ITS system.

I have experience working within the student residential environment as I am currently employed as Residence Manager at Nelson Mandela University. My experience includes building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders and embracing diversity and this is demonstrated through the interactions that I have with various departments within the University such as the international relations department whereby as a Residence Manager I facilitate and ensure that international students integrate successfully within the residential space and also get the opportunity to engage and immerse themselves through living and learning programmes that are run in the residences to foster social cohesion and a holistic development. I am self-motivated with the ability to take on a leadership role, when necessary, but I am also a team player who believes in working together for the good of the team. Through facilitating different programs within the residences, I have gained knowledge and understanding of the different problems that students face daily and this transcends beyond the university environment. I have strong interpersonal and communication skills that have honed through my years working as a facilitator. My compassion and empathy shine through to make me an approachable person, I can remain calm in times of conflict and able to maintain order when needed. I possess efficient counselling, training and facilitation skills that have developed through collaborative work with the Centre of Higher Education, Teaching and Learning at the University of Venda where we facilitate leadership programs, mentorship, study skills sessions, GBV campaigns, suicide prevention programs to mention a few.  I am well-versed in the different rules and regulations as well as policies and processes that govern the student residential environment. 

My work ethic is strong, and I have gained valuable workplace skills and experience. These include good planning and analytical skills, meeting deadlines, managing different priorities, and working in a team. I am used to working in a fast-paced environment and have a highly developed ability to stay focused when the pressure rises. I am reliable and punctual. I have outstanding written and oral communication skills; I am also comfortable engaging with a wide range of people because of having worked with different communities.

Graduated with Bachelor of Social Science Hounours in Public Policy as well as Bachelor of Social Work.
