Khosi Ngubane

I have completed a BA Honours degree in Communications Science at the University of Zululand, attaining a First Class Distinction Pass in my dissertation on 'Communication between Government and people in the rural areas: A case study of Kwa-Dlangezwa, KwaZulu-Natal'. The skills learned from this qualification have given me excellent foundation and knowledge of the relevant legislation and policies, community research skills and public service delivery to building a career as a communications, public relations and events practitioner; both in the public and private sector. Aside from my degree, I have built upon my interest in communications field and community development in a number of ways. As part of my internship at the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Treasury, as well as being a Communications Intern at the office of the MEC for Finance and Economic Development, my job was to project the image for the department by advertising Road Shows, Conferences and writing articles on the Website. Further, I have built on my experience by being extensively involved in the Umlazi, in and around Durban communities through various social outreach and young women programs on behalf of the Anglican Church as well as the communities. Programmes like The Significant Woman have helped me in focusing on women empowerment and skills development. My work experience includes community outreach planning, events coordination, and communication strategy development among other skills. Being a Public Relations and Marketing Manager has further enhanced my employee development, decision making and leadership skills. These skills I had already acquired from my previous job as a Franchisee and Manager. I am a highly motivated individual with a 'can do' attitude and am able to work to my own initiative, whilst working as part of a wider team. I am confident that I can bring the above skills as well as my organizational skills, excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills and make a contribution that will have an immediate impact in the running of the office.
