Experience

Management: • Manage a team of Warehouse Supervisors, Warehouse Clerks, Dispatch Supervisor and Clerks, and Drivers. • Safeguard the warehouse operations and contents by monitoring security procedures and protocols. • Management and control of various customer roll-out projects, pro-actively liaising with Assembly and workshop teams to ensure deadlines are met. • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision. • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures. • Plan work rotas, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results. • Ensure employee compliance to all company policies, especially with regards to leave, claims, and company asset usage. 

Finance: • Assist in the effective financial management of the warehouse. • Source competitive rates for warehouse related suppliers. • Ensure that goods returned are credited and updated with internal finance team. • Ensure that pricing on procurement database is updated to match pricing on supplier invoices, effective management of price variances. 

Stock Rotation, Control and Space Utilization • Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system. • Continually maximize space utilization through effective stock rotation and stacking and storage principals. • Monitor stock aging and conduct ‘first-in-first-out’ stock control on a weekly, and ongoing basis. • Work closely with the Inventory Controller on correct stock rotation and ensure accurate stock reporting. • Plan, co-ordinate, monitor and manage the movement of all incoming/outgoing goods. • Active planning and forecasting on warehouse space and resources in line with shipments and deliveries. • Plan and conduct the stock counts as per the company’s management guidelines. • Keeping stock controls up to date and initiate requests for replenishments of stocks. • Take periodic inventory audits and conduct annual financial year stocktake. • Conduct and manage audits by customer auditors in confirming stock storage accuracy. 

Operational: • Ensure the effective functioning of the Warehouse Management System (Warehouse Management Lite) • Oversee receiving, warehousing and distribution operations. • Effective control of Inter-warehouse transfers of goods and stock control. • Providing timeous, ongoing feedback to internal Sales Team and Customers. • Completes projects by coordinating resources and schedules with user departments. • Implements and recommends strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating departmental outcomes. • Develop and maintain detailed project plan to monitor and track progress of projects. • Meet with internal clients (Sales Teams) to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project. • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels. • Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow and product handling systems. • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes. • Oversee the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods. • Create, monitor and update system that reduces miss-picks by warehouse staff with improved inventory practices to ensure accurate product was received and shipped to appropriate clients. • Ensuring that goods dispatched are accurate and matched to delivery notes, as well as properly packaged to secure condition of goods. 

Logistics: • Manage adherence of staff to accurate recording and capturing of delivery trip sheets, and Proof of delivery (POD) documents. • Ensuring the best possible transport rates with external providers. • Planning, route allocation and scheduling for internal logistics drivers in accordance with projects, and customer demands. • Detailed planning of collection and deliveries to customers and from suppliers. • Manage the logistics fleet condition and maintenance of all vehicles, through a detailed weekly checklist. • Schedule maintenance servicing for fleet, as well as warehouse machinery. • Timeous completing of documents for submissions of customs clearing and forwarding documentation requirements. • Ensuring levies and letters of approval for customs authorities are up to date, and in order. Reporting: • Investigate and report variances, and resolve stock discrepancies. • Provide weekly and monthly reports to management on stock movement, projects and logistics

Education

I am currently studying for an Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport, Warehousing and Inventory via the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain.

This will be completed by May 2023.
