My duties include giving technical advice on design, installation, and maintenance. I am also responsible for analysing machinery failures and thus coming up with solutions. Additionally, I inspect maintenance and ensure that it is done following all safety precautions.

My duties are helpful in ensuring reliable engineering thus adding on to the value chain.

I aim to prove that women have the same capacities that men have, despite physical strength.

One of my biggest ambitions includes seeing women take up more space within the engineering community and that they also be afforded opportunities to hold authoritative positions as well.

i have diploma in electrical engineering , completed my studies 2019 and currently studying advanced diploma in electrical engineering which is equivalent to B-tech in electrical engineering at University of South Africa (2023).

My name is Keolopile Tabakeng, I joined Kalagadi in 2019 as an Electrical technician trainee, and have had an incredible experience. I have had male colleagues who were open to teaching and helping me on some technical issues which made the working environment comfortable for me.

Learning new things every day and doing what makes me happy is fully developing my eye-hand coordination and problem solving skills, as well as working alongside my colleagues.. I mostly enjoy the sinter plant because it is more mechanical and allows me to practise what I had previously learnt as theory in tertiary.

Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is one of the biggest things that push me every day. Being different enables me to work twice as hard to prove that even with a disability you can occupy spaces and be in any career. And I am currently studying advanced diploma with UNISA, in future I want to be electrical technologist or electrical engineer.
