About Keenan Meyer:

My name is Keenan Meyer, I am a young dynamic individual born and raised in the beautiful city of Cape Town.

I have about 6 years of photography and media experience as I worked in the local film industry. I was in the camera department and worked my way up from an assistant to the gimbal operator and onsite behind the scenes photographer. I primarily worked for a stock company that has now closed down so I was unfortunately unable to gather a portfolio of my work from there so all I have now is what is in my newest portfolio.

I have shot on Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, RED and ARRI as well as various types of gimbals. I am also able to rig and light scenes. We worked in a small team at Moose and took on many roles while there so I got to learn a lot.

Recently I have been pushing back into freelance photography and running my own business. This way I have more freedom over what I choose to shoot and what makes me happy. 

 

 

Experience

About 6 years ago I started working in the local film industry in Cape Town. Working for companies such as National Geographic as a scenic artist and set builder. On the side, I was shooting part-time commercial real estate and landscapes photography which resulted in me naturally starting to drift towards the camera department.


Once in the camera department, I went to work full time as a camera assistant and gimbal operator for a few years at a local high-end stock company in Woodstock called Moose Films. Ever since that and covid, I have decided to go back into pushing my freelance photography. I have now sold licensed photos to international climbing guide books, filmed climbing competitions for IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing) and sold numerous landscape photography prints for personal and corporate clientele.


Because of my history in film, I have a vast knowledge of shooting photos and videos with numerous camera and lighting setups in the studio and on location to produce professional quality work as well as living up to the industry standard with the work ethics of a sherpa.

I have done a few short courses and have my certificates in:

  • Introduction to Photography 2015
  • Complete Photography Masterclass 2022
