About Karlien Gonsalves (Kloppers):

My name is Karlien Gonsalves (Kloppers). I am a 37-year-old female. I am a Registered Nurse who qualified with Netcare Education. I did my Enrolled Nurse course and Bridging course with Netcare Education which I enjoyed very much. During studies as a student, I was placed in general wards by the clinical facilitators, and speciality wards. After the Bridging course the Matron of Kingsway Hospital placed me in Paediatric ward which I enjoyed tremendously. I loved working with the children making them laugh, building a bond with the kids as well as the parents. I would love to continue working with children and try and build a foundation just for children.

I endured a lot of difficulties in the beginning as I needed to adapt to an unfamiliar environment. Prior to Paediatrics I worked in Medical 2. I worked one year day shift thereafter I went over to night shift, leading the shift. My BLS is up to date as well as my SANC fees.

I will render quality services to your ward or company and treat the patients’ adults and children alike with respect and dignity. I intend to meet the client/ patient and companies’ goals and follow and know policies and procedures according to your company. This opportunity will also give me the opportunity to gain experience and further my studies to become more knowledgeable which will also benefit your company.

My career includes patient safety and assessment, monitoring patient progress, consulting with the multi-function team of doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists etc., preparing the patient for theatre, doing health checks, vital data, maintaining detailed records, doing emergency checks, giving medication and intravenous therapy, insertion of intravenous lines, and these are just a few of my duties.

I truly love and adore children and want to make them feel safe, better, comforted and feel that they can talk to me. I would do anything to protect children. When there were no patients in the ward I was sent to trauma, medical 2, surgical ICU, orthopaedic ward or surgical wards.

Previously I also worked at a frail care facility where I worked with patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Hypertension and cardiac problems and many more conditions. Mostly I worked with end- stage life stage 4 cancer as well making patients feel comfortable, cared for, fed and have someone at their side before passing on.

I know that I can make a great contribution to your company and look forward to discussing this opportunity further in detail.

Thank you for your time in reading this and for your consideration.

Yours Sincerely

Karlien Gonsalves (Kloppers)
