About Karen de Jager:

I am Karen de Jager born on 09 April 1977 in Johannesburg. Matriculated in 1995 after which I went and studied N. Dip Environmental Health at The University of Technology. I am married for almost 21 years with two children, a daughter of 18 currently in Matric and a son of 15 currently in Gr 9. 

I have more than 15 years of experience in the field of safety management and keep up to date with the latest information regarding safety legislation and requirements. I have a strong ability and the necessary skills to deal with different types of situations. 

Additionally, I have natural abilities to manage people and I can ensure that everyone shows compliance with the safety procedures and policies devised within the company.

I am a passionate individual who is always ready to show the best of my work. With my diligence and hard work, I have always achieved my targets and goals.

I am confident, loyal and honest person that is willing to go the extra mile in achieving success.

Experience

  • Maintain the Safety Management systems of the operation in line with ISO and Legal standards.
  • Maintain the certification of the safety systems of the operation.
  • Plan for, prepare and actively participate in the implementation of both internal and external quality and safety audits.
  • Track initiated measures by way of KPI reporting. 
  • Plan, implement and monitor the prevention and corrective measures.
  • Conduct Internal audits upon completion of projects.
  • Identify, introduce and implement best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Advise operations on the manner in which to conform to safety standards.
  • Liaise with appropriate statutory bodies on matters relating to safety.
  • Ensure the OSH Act is implemented and practiced at the operation.
  • Implement and maintain SHEQ objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with incident and accident investigations.
  • Provide sound advice on matters relating to, safety, health, and the environment
  • Ensure that the relevant committees are coordinated and carried out meetings as required.
  • Ensure compliance of reports on safety, health, environment, accident, IOD’s
  • Conduct hazardous investigations; risk assessments and risk mapping;
  • Conduct effective maintenance of IOD systems and reporting;
  • Ensure all legally required appointments are made in line with legislation
